An eight week old Vizsla commandeered our lives on July 19. Here is the beginning of our story...
After much debate we've landed on a name.
Meet Dane.
The first couple nights after we brought him home were what you’d expect; lots of crying, whimpering and frequent trips outside. And that was just me!
Dane has settled into his new surroundings really well. The trips outside have become less frequent. He's grown comfortable in his crate. He's sleeping longer every night. And he's made a new best friend-- my son.
Considering that before we picked him up he had never been in a crate, a car, or on a leash—he’s adapted remarkably well.
Training is underway and, of course, incomplete. However, he sits on command. Sometimes. He points pheasant wings. And moths at 2 am. And Micah as they play outside.
His personality is emerging, too. At any point in the day he can be loving, rambunctious, stubborn, obedient, or independent.
He’s always adorable. His tail always wags. His eyes smile but they also sometimes reflect what appears to be a deep sadness. There's alot going on in that little head of his.
Our family is over the moon for him. We can’t wait to see what the next 12 years or so bring.
